The themes of my writing and imagery are primarily related to gun dogs, especially versatile dogs that hunt upland birds and waterfowl. The subjects of my photos are typically people and dogs in training for upland and waterfowl work, testing and hunting. I also photograph scenes related to the outdoors environments in which such activities occur.
My photos have been placed on many smaller market magazine covers, the North Dakota PLOTs Guide (2014), the New York State Hunting and Trapping Guide (2011-2012) and have been used for Kent Ammo ads, and for third party apparel. They have appeared in many outdoor magazine articles, usually along with my own prose but sometimes in support the writing of others.
I am in my third decade as a North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA) member. Through NAVHDA I have personally trained and tested my own dogs through every level, including two Versatile Champions. I am active (Test Director) in the Hudson Valley Chapter, which I started in 2004. I’ve held almost every office in the chapter.
I am currently working on two books of short stories related to upland hunting and several other themes and the folks who engage in the sporting life. I am a retired psychotherapist residing in southeastern New York with my two German Shorthaired Pointers, Elk and Loki.
